Park Meadows: Mobility & Mitigation

The Park City Municipal’s impending community meeting regarding Park Meadows transportation proposals feels less like urban planning and more like damage control, honestly. A twelve-foot multiuse path along Little Kate Road, coupled with ‘traffic calming’ on Holiday Ranch Loop Road, suggests a reactive approach to increased density. While the 20 Tan route adjustments and bus stop improvements are sensible, they hardly justify the collective civic engagement. One wonders if Extell, with their ongoing work at the Park City Residences, factored this into their projections, or simply assumed the municipality would perpetually subsidize access. Frankly, the exclusion of Monitor Drive from the initial design—a decision reached after a February 3rd Council discussion—speaks to a certain lack of foresight. The materials aren’t even mentioned; is the pathway to be poured concrete, or, heaven forbid, asphalt? No mention of oxidized copper detailing, or even locally sourced native sandstone. This feels fundamentally…beige. The projected ‘winter 2025’ completion date is, naturally, optimistic. My recommendation? Sell. There are more lucrative allocations than perpetually mitigating the consequences of haphazard development.
