Mental Wellness, Survey Fatigue

The Marsac Building continues to allocate resources to what can only be described as redundant quantification. Summit County, through the Department of Health and guided by Councilmembers McKenna and Armstrong, is soliciting responses to a mental health survey. This, of course, means a flurry of emails, website notifications, and the inevitable low-level anxiety amongst the support staff tasked with compiling the results. Director Bondurant, quite reasonably, mentions previous successes – the Mobile Crisis Outreach Team, increased Spanish-language clinicians – all stemming from these assessments. One wonders if the very act of asking about mental wellness contributes to the reported 40% seeking care. The Park City Community Foundation and the Katz Amsterdam Foundation are funding this endeavor, which is, if nothing else, consistent. The High Valley Transit schedule remains unaffected, thankfully, but I foresee a marginal increase in congestion on SR-224 as concerned citizens pause to consider their emotional states. The data, collected through a website, will, undoubtedly, sit in a server until the next bi-annual assessment is launched. A complete waste of perfectly good faded municipal beige stationery. A more effective strategy would be to simply observe passenger volume at the Montage. That, truly, reveals everything.
