Wednesday night at the County Ice Center in Murray, Park City Miners Red delivered a decisive 7-1 victory over Brighton Navy in the Utah state title game, completing a three-peat. The early goal by Mitchell Berry – a forward who clearly understands leverage in the offensive zone – established immediate momentum, sending a packed house into a sustained roar. While Brighton Navy briefly responded, the second-period offensive surge from Wyatt Nellis (two goals) and contributions from Hunter Jacques and Niko Morgan effectively ended the contest. Head Coach Mike Adamek correctly identified the early lead as the key to unlocking Park City's typically suffocating defensive style. The third period descended into predictable end-of-game theater: penalties – nine for Brighton Navy, five for Park City – and, bizarrely, discarded seafood thrown onto the ice, a curious tradition. Referee black was frequently visible. The post-game mood, however, was tempered by the revelation that this state title doesn’t automatically guarantee a bid to the national championships. The Miners Red must now face the winner of the school-unaffiliated bracket, Sky Canyon or DCI, in a single-elimination qualifying game. Adamek is rightly focused on leadership and discipline as the team shifts focus, but the truncated turnaround presents a clear challenge. Statement win.
