Main Street, usually a limpid serpentine, was gnawed into a minor traffic jam: the thrumming parade of black SUVs, little electric cars echoing, and festival‑goers in step‑and‑repeat red draped advertising. Yet the library’s velvet rope granted the most dearest of candidates—those corner‑bills of local charity, newly‑awarded film students, and a cameo by a yet‑unconfirmed celebrity—unrestricted entry.
