Council Vacancy: Procedural Rigmarole

The application period for Councilmember Dickey’s vacated seat opens Friday, a somewhat theatrical exercise given the limitations of local governance. The 30-day state law is, predictably, adhered to with tedious precision, as are the required public disclosures. One anticipates a parade of earnest, yet ultimately ineffective, applicants. High Valley Transit will undoubtedly be overburdened with well-meaning volunteers attempting to navigate the system. It is all… predictable. The inevitable delays will impact the proposed revisions to the parking regulations along Main Street, naturally. A complete disruption. For those truly concerned with efficiency, I recommend bypassing the entire ordeal. Fly private into Heber-Lee Airport. It’s the only reliable route.
